Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone made its way at no. 3 in the "top ten cultural moments in the past 21 years", as a Sky Art Poll accords.

A YouGov survey commissioned by the channel, to mark the 21st anniversary of the Guardian Hay Festival, asked more than two thousand people to choose from a range of 21 cultural events.

The most popular choice, the “Three Tenors” singing together on the eve of the 1990 World Cup final, received 49% of the vote, while the publication of "Harry Potter and the sorcerer's Stone" came in third place. The other top five events were the reopening of the Globe Theatre (second), the launch of the iPod (fourth) and lastly the Riverdance performance at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest (fifth). The publication of The Satanic Verses was deemed the sixth most significant cultural event.
